Job Summary
Carry out or assist with ophthalmic diagnostic tests such as OCT, Visual Fields, VA, IOP, and Biometry while supporting patients before and after procedures. Assist clinical teams with room preparation, equipment, and documentation, and maintain accurate patient records. Follow infection prevention, safety, and clinical governance procedures to provide a calm, professional, and caring experience for patients across diagnostic testing, pre-assessment, surgery days, and post-operative care. A valid UK driving licence and access to your own transport are desirable due to the location.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as an optical assistant, surgical assistant, or hospital healthcare technician/assistant
- A minimum of 1 year's experience in a hospital, clinic, theatre, outpatient or healthcare setting
- Basic Life Support competency
- Good IT and communication skills
- A caring, organised and professional approach
- Flexibility to work bank shifts when required
Desired Qualifications
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own transport
- Ophthalmology experience
