Ballistics Quality Technician I

Job Summary
Perform basic ammunition ballistics tests including chamber pressure, velocity, and terminal ballistics in accordance with SAAMI or government standards. Support First Article and Lot Acceptance Tests while reviewing Bills of Materials to ensure correct components and effective lot numbering. Follow the Red Tag process to report nonconformities and conduct range inspections per written procedures. Maintain 5S workplace standards and participate in continuous improvement projects while adhering to Safety and ISO procedures. May travel to locations to participate in tests with U.S. and foreign government representatives. Requires regular on-site attendance, potential overtime or alternate shifts, and ability to work in a manufacturing environment with frequent standing and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic drawing/blueprint reading abilities
- Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with Oracle EBS
- Ability to pass range certification within the first year
- Understanding of Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute (SAAMI) and government test standards
- Functional knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all quality inspection equipment used in the ammunition manufacturing process
- Ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, management, and fellow employees
- Ability to seek out ways to assist others without being asked while completing assigned tasks on time
- High degree of professionalism with a collaborative attitude
- Ability to complete assigned tasks on time
- Ability to alert leadership when obstacles prevent task completion within assigned schedule
- Ability to communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift
- Proficient fine motor skills
- Ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts
