Job Summary
Perform intricate disassembly and assembly of GG4A, GG4C jet engines and GG8 power gas turbines using precision measuring tools and manufacturer special tooling. Weigh rotating airfoils, conduct static and dynamic balance on Hoffman machines, and perform dimensional checks, bearing torques, and air flow/pressure tests. Buildup sub and final assemblies, remove broken hardware, and prepare balance assemblies for shipment while maintaining a safe, clean work area. Works overtime as required and may be assigned to other WGPW locations.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent plus broad specialized training in an aviation, technical school, or military training
- One to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good mechanical skills, a high level of manual dexterity including hand-eye coordination
- Ability to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
- Able to read, interpret, document, and use manufacturer's technical manuals, service bulletins, illustrated parts catalogs, assembly drawings, AOS sheets and WGPW assembly records
- Required to safely use manufacturer's special tooling and lift and turn equipment
- Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
