Job Summary
The Baking & Pastry Chef Instructor is responsible for teaching students in Baking and Pastry Arts at the Culinary Institute of America. Key responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, evaluating student performance, and maintaining course materials. Candidates must have at least eight years of managerial experience in the food service industry, specifically in Baking and Pastry, and hold an Associate’s Degree or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include prior instructional experience and advanced certifications. Essential skills include proficiency in Baking and Pastry Arts, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent required in the field of Baking and Pastry or Culinary Arts
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience which includes managerial level duties and responsibilities in the Food Service/Hospitality Industry with a strong focus on Baking and Pastry
- Fine dining, Baking/Pastry production and prior training experience is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Advanced professional certification such as CEPC, CMPC, CMB, or ProChef®
- Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE)
- ServSafe certification
