Job Summary
Manage daily bakery output, production, and display while supervising product quality, inventory tracking, and budget oversight. Evaluate department operations to identify strengths and areas for improvement, then develop improved practices and procedures. Ensure safety standards, proper food handling, and sanitation are maintained while overseeing ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage. Execute merchandise rotation and display building to maximize sales and gross profit. Engage team members through coaching, feedback, and bi-annual performance reviews, and collaborate with the Store Manager on hiring and promotion decisions. Create and adjust staffing schedules to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency. Serve as a Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
- Dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
- Outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers
- Good communication skills; and the ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
- Ability to answer phones and take special orders
- Ability to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
- Uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
- Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Ability to vertically transfer tray up to 5 lbs., from 7" to 64" for up to 10 hours
- Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5" to 36", for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
- Adherence to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
- Achievement and maintenance of a Food Handlers permit
- Possession of a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
