Job Summary
Oversees bakery department operations, mentors crew, and actively participates in preparing in-store scratch bakery products (mixing, weighing, kneading, proofing, frying and baking) with potential cake decorating when needed. Provides leadership for planning and assigning work, coaching, scheduling, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. Conducts daily team huddles to communicate goals, ensures displays and freshness, assists with inventory/orders and POS maintenance, and fosters a team-oriented environment while staying current on weekly specials and promotions.
Required Qualifications
- journey-person level baking experience
- ability to learn basic product knowledge for all department items
- ability to follow instructions for handling knives and production baking machinery
- strong work ethic and time management
- basic math skills and the ability to perform sales transactions and calculate discounts
- ability to use Microsoft Office suite
- excellent communication with guests, crew, management, and leadership
- 18 years of age or older due to equipment/work environment
- State Food Handler’s Permit must be maintained
- ability to work in a kitchen environment with exposure to noise and heat
- ability to lift 25-50 lbs routinely
- willingness to join a labor union (possible)
- ability to work weekends/holidays as needed
