Job Summary
Answer customer questions regarding bakery and deli products while baking breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries. Wrap and sell merchandise, process purchases using a cash register, and accurately record special orders. Review the Communication Board daily, prepare cooler and freezer areas for deliveries, and verify merchandise against invoices. Adhere to health codes by cleaning floors, equipment, and shelves; safely operate a baler, pallet jack, slicer, and fryer. Transport cases to sales floors, stock display cases, and rotate product to "face" the front row. Check case and freezer temperatures four times daily, report out-of-stock items, and evaluate product quality to process returns or markdowns. Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and substitute for absent workers.
Required Qualifications
- Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to count
- Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers/employees concerning store/department policy/procedures and use of equipment
- Work and educational history demonstrating stability
- The ability to read and write English; able to read instructions, merchandise labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms
- Good interpersonal communications
- Must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, baler, slicer, steam table and fryer and other equipment
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a related type of job
- Prior experience operating a baler, case cutter, cleaning/sanitation equipment, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, knife, slicer, scales, cash register, steam table, wrapper, fryer and stove, (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, baler, slicer, steam table, and fryer)
