Bakery Cake Designer

Job Summary
Greet customers at the bakery counter, take orders, and assist with needs throughout the store. Check daily orders, set up production schedules, and track retail production to identify tasks for co-workers. Decorate bakery items while developing daily orders for bakers and managing supply orders for the decorating area. Deliver and set up wedding cakes on site outside the store, communicating daily with the Bakery Manager regarding displays and special needs. Lead part-time employees by instructing and reviewing their work, while practicing sanitation procedures and maintaining a clean work area. Answer the phone promptly to provide friendly service and take product orders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
- Ability to follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines
- Employment contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen
