Job Summary
Assist the Lead Cook with food preparation, set up steam tables and salad bars, and unload deliveries while organizing storage using the FIFO method. Serve students during lunch periods, follow standardized recipes for consistent portions, and answer basic menu questions regarding ingredients. Operate the Point of Sale system, run the industrial dishwasher, and complete daily checklists and temperature logs for all kitchen equipment. Prepare and bake fresh goods according to established recipes, ensuring high standards for quality and food safety. This role supports the school kitchen and coffee shop at New Life Church and Academy, requiring a born-again believer who integrates gospel-centered values into daily tasks.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- The ability to switch between tasks quickly and efficiently based on daily needs and unexpected circumstances
- Show initiative to provide the best customer service possible
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to repetitively lift at least 40 –50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs regularly
- Must wear apron, hair covering, and non-slip shoes
- Must be able to effectively integrate a gospel centered message into their day-to-day responsibilities
- Must be a born-again believer who exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit in their daily walk
- Must be a regular attendee and supporter of a church whose fundamental beliefs are evangelical in nature
- Must have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
