Job Summary
Prepare, make up, bake, and fry all department products, including proofing items and pulling from freezers or coolers. Check orders for the day, set up production schedules, and prioritize special orders. Operate as a lead with bakery clerks, providing guidance and direction while inspecting incoming products for quality. Review current shelf stock, re-merchandise as needed, and order supplies as directed. Write the department schedule to ensure coverage in the Bakery Manager's absence and practice proper sanitation procedures. Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering phones, and taking product orders. Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Ability to follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines
- Employment contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen
