Job Summary
Produce standard baked goods including cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and various puddings while maintaining daily production and sanitation sheets. Operate mixers, unload equipment, and clean the kitchen to ensure all HACCP sanitation and safety standards are met. Assist in developing new recipes and menu items as applicable, working collaboratively with kitchen staff to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This role requires early morning shifts from 7am to 3pm, Mon-Fri, and involves lifting objects up to 75 pounds. The position is located at Southeast Community College - Lincoln and offers accelerated career advancement opportunities within Great Western Dining.
Required Qualifications
- Must be customer service oriented and enjoy working in a student-oriented environment
- Must be dependable and reliable
- The ability to make desserts from scratch
- Experienced in production line baking or food processing
- Must be knowledgeable about proper food handling and safety guidelines
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow directions for equipment and recipe production
- Continuous walking and other means of mobility
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance
- Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time
Desired Qualifications
- One two years as a baker or a bakery background preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary or baking training preferred
- Knowledge of yeasts and other pre-ferments encouraged
