Job Summary
Follow recipes and production lists precisely to ensure high-quality bakery and pastry items, monitoring dates, freshness, and shrinkage while adhering to all Health Department guidelines and sanitation practices. Maintain cleanliness in prep areas, coolers, and storage; keep an eye on stock levels and service floor needs for early mornings and evenings; and answer phone calls with proper etiquette to assist guests with special orders and address concerns. Maintain food safety logs and ensure quantity expectations are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily. Work closely with all Bakery associates to meet department goals and support a positive team environment. Stand in one spot for long periods, lift up to 60 pounds frequently, and operate machinery such as ovens and mixers. This role includes early mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility for evening or overnight shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
- Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on ovens, lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler, mixers, slicing and packaging machinery, and other equipment.
- Retail Expertise: Knowledge of the retail food business and perishable department operations, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule
- Adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
- Ability to stand in one spot for a long period of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel regularly (70% of the time)
- Full range of upper body motion
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a frequent basis (50% of the time)
- Ability to handle frequent repetitive motion of hands and wrists
- Flexibility to work evening or overnight shifts as needed
- Ability to work early mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays
