Job Summary
Create an appealing presentation of cakes, breads, rolls, and donuts while ensuring products are fresh, properly packaged, and compliant with all health and safety regulations. Prepare dough, pan frozen and fresh items, operate mixers, and manage inventory by rotating stock first-in, first-out and taking regular counts. Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying invoices, and handling damaged goods. Work in refrigerated coolers and near hot ovens, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders to retrieve items from elevated shelves. Maintain clean work areas and respond quickly to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health and packaging requirements
- Be able to climb a ladder to retrieve inaccessible items from overhead or elevated storage shelves and racks
- Be able to work in refrigerated coolers for short periods of time and near or around hot ovens and appliances for prolonged periods of time
- Have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies
- Be able to work with bakery ingredients and spices including finely powdered substances, meat products, and produce without suffering adverse allergic consequences that affect the ability of the employee to successfully perform the duties of the job
- Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus with sufficient visual acuity to examine vendor invoices, analyze reports and other written document
- The employee must frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; in addition, the employee must crouch or kneel
- The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds carrying bulk containers of flour, sugar, lard and other materials and frequently exert of lit moderate amounts of weight
- Be able to perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties including lifting of both heavy and light amounts of weight
