Job Summary
Oversee safe coal production and manage underground mining equipment, including longwall, continuous miners, and construction zones. Direct sections for out-by work and coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and other shifts to ensure efficient operations. Perform goal setting, training, and performance evaluations while enforcing the "Absolute ZERO" safety culture. May supervise de-gas activities and step into foreman roles as needed. Adhere to federal, state, and company policies while complying with regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications

- Ensure the company's "Absolute ZERO" safety culture is embedded in all work performed
- Must safely, effectively, and efficiently work and respond to changing conditions within the mine
- Must be able to safely operate underground mining equipment
- Supervise sections that may include longwall, continuous miner, construction, belt and/or out-by work
- May provide supervision for de-gas activities
- Performs key supervisory responsibilities such as goal setting, planning, training and performance evaluation
- Communicates changes and company policies and procedures to employees
- Coordinates and communicates with engineering, maintenance and other departments or shifts as needed to maintain an efficient and safe operation
- May perform the duties of other production, operations or shift foreman due to absence
- Must ensure that body mechanics, equipment, and tools are utilized in a safe and responsible manner
- Responsible for the safe and efficient production of coal and/or assistance in the production of coal in general work areas
- Requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations
- Must comply with company policies, federal and state laws, and regulatory standards
- Must be 18 years of age
- Requires certification by Pennsylvania as one of the following: Mine Examiner, Assistant Mine Foreman, or as a Mine Foreman for underground Bituminous Coal Mines
- Requires Pennsylvania Experienced Miner Certificate
- Must be available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires
- Must be able to work as scheduled and arrive to the worksite promptly to receive work assignment and prepare for the start of the shift
- Must be able to work a shift rotation
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Must be able to perform heavy work as defined by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles which may include but not limited to lift, carry, pull/push, climb, shovel, walk, or pry
- Must be able to work on/near moving equipment as required by job
