Job Summary
Load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft safely and efficiently. Sort and transport luggage to designated areas, operate baggage handling equipment including carts, belt loaders, and tugs, and ensure all items are properly scanned, tagged, and routed. Inspect equipment for maintenance needs, follow TSA and airport security procedures, and maintain workspace cleanliness. Respond quickly to changing flight schedules and assist with aircraft arrival and departure operations while working collaboratively with ramp agents and supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and airport operational environments
- Must be able to take verbally direct in English
- Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
- Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials
- Identification badges must always be visible
- Must adhere to company policies and procedures and participate in achievement of company objectives
- Must have reliable telephone and transportation
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Desired Qualifications
- Previous airline experience
- Previous customer service, hospitality baggage handling experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic communication and teamwork skills
