Job Summary
Conduct plan reviews and inspections of new and existing buildings and irrigation systems to ensure compliance with cross connection control and water conservation requirements. Perform backflow assembly installations and monitor cross connection activities to prevent contamination of public and private water distribution systems. Process technical data for water, building, and utility plans while enforcing city and state codes. Maintain inspection reports and provide technical support to supervisory personnel. This role supports the Water Department's mission to protect Fort Worth's potable water supply for over one million residents.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED certification, supplemented by specialized training in assigned trades area
- Four (4) years of Journeyman Plumber experience as required by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and the Plumbing License Law to qualify as a Master Plumber
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Possession of or ability to obtain Texas State Master Plumber's License within one (1) year of employment
- TSBPE Water Supply Protection Specialist (WSPS) endorsement
- Possession of or ability to obtain Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Irrigation Inspectors License
- Possession of or ability to obtain TCEQ, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly
Desired Qualifications
- Master Plumber License with a Water Safety Protection Specialist (W.S.P.S.) endorsement
- Possession of, or ability to obtain an Irrigation Inspector license from Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester license
- In-depth knowledge of the International Plumbing Code, Fort Worth Cross-Connection and Plumbing codes
- Verifiable Texas State Board of Plumbing and TCEQ licenses
