Backend Software Engineering Intern - Fall 2026

Verkada is seeking a Backend Software Engineering Intern for Fall 2026 to join the Backend Engineering team on-site at the HQ in San Mateo, CA. You will build and contribute to scalable distributed systems handling high traffic from devices worldwide, work with Redis, DynamoDB, Postgres, Kafka, SQS, and deploy services via Terraform and Kubernetes. You’ll design and implement features using Python and/or Go, develop large-scale systems to interact with and configure products remotely, and contribute to low-latency, high-throughput microservice architectures with exposure to cutting-edge computer vision. The role requires actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in CS or a similar field and graduating by June 2027, prior internship experience, and comfort with REST APIs and Linux servers. The position includes an hourly pay range of $55-$65 and on-site benefits such as housing stipend and meals, with visa sponsorship available. Location: San Mateo, California, United States.
