Backend Software Engineer - AI Neobank App (UK)

Job Summary
Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app, supporting products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, and travel. Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, and notifications while integrating with banks, payment gateways, insurers, and data providers. Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance to ensure practical, auditable infrastructure ready for regulated financial products. Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly, taking ownership of production issues and long-term reliability. This hybrid role requires at least three days per week in the UK office.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
- Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
- Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
- Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams
- Strong English communication
- Must be able to work from our UK office at least 3 days per week
