Backend Software Engineer - AI Neobank App (Spain)

Job Summary
Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app, supporting products across insurance, payments, wallets, savings, investing, and travel. Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, and notifications while integrating with banks, payment gateways, and insurers. Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance to ensure practical, auditable infrastructure for regulated financial products. Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly, taking ownership of production issues and long-term reliability. Based in Spain with English as the primary working language, this role is part of BJAK's global engineering team expanding financial services across Southeast Asia.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
- Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
- Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
- Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams
- Strong English communication
- Candidates must be based in Spain

- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products
