Job Summary
Backend Engineer (Mid) focusing on security-facing PHP backend services for NordPass/Security Tools Squad. Responsibilities include building and owning security tooling such as breach detection and email masking, leveraging AI-assisted workflows for code generation, testing, and debugging, establishing AI practices (prompt libraries, guardrails), participating in system design for secure, scalable architectures, and collaborating with frontend, mobile, and backend teams to deliver end-to-end features. Tech stack includes PHP, Go, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Docker, AWS; emphasis on CI/CD, automated testing, and maintainable code. Bonus points for cryptography knowledge and experience with AI agents/LLM-powered features, plus contributions to developer tooling. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on PHP development in production systems
- Demonstrable AI-native workflow with code generation, refactoring, test creation, and debugging
- Solid grasp of system design and OOP
- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and integration testing
- Clear, proactive communicator in cross-functional environments
