Job Summary
Backend Engineer for NordSec Security Tools Squad responsible for building, extending, and owning security-facing PHP backend services (breach detection, email masking, and related tooling) with a strong emphasis on quality, performance, and maintainability. Leverages AI-assisted workflows daily to generate code, scaffold tests, debug, and optimize; participates in system design and architectural decisions; collaborates with Frontend, Android, iOS, and Backend teams to deliver end-to-end features; takes ownership from design through production and ensures uptime and code quality. Requires 3+ years of PHP production experience, familiarity with AI-native tooling (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or similar), solid system-design thinking, strong OOP and asynchronous programming skills, and comfort with CI/CD, unit, and integration tests. Bonus points for Go, cryptography/security fundamentals, internal tooling, and AI agent or LLM-powered features. Hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote; locations include Krakow and Warsaw, Poland.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on PHP development in production systems
- Demonstrable AI-native workflow: you already use tools like Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or similar daily for code generation, refactoring, test creation, and debugging
- Solid grasp of system design and ability to articulate trade-offs
- Strong understanding of OOP, asynchronous programming, and design patterns
- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and integration testing as non-negotiable parts of shipping
- Clear, proactive communicator in cross-functional environments
