Job Summary
Develop and maintain scalable microservices powering core banking systems, merchant acquiring platforms, and internal banking applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka. Design distributed systems with PostgreSQL and non-relational databases, while managing containerized applications via Docker and Kubernetes. Write unit and integration tests, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and perform peer code reviews to ensure production reliability. Collaborate with product owners, frontend engineers, and senior architects to deliver features end-to-end, and maintain technical documentation and Architecture Decision Records.
Required Qualifications
- Malaysian citizen (holder of a valid MyKad)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on backend software development experience
- Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming (OOP) languages
- Experience with Spring Boot for building microservices and RESTful APIs
- Good understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms
- Experience with both relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases
- Familiarity with designing and consuming web APIs of reasonable complexity
- Hands-on experience with containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with at least one AI coding tool (e.g. ILMU, Claude, GitHub Copilot) and willingness to incorporate AI-assisted development into daily workflow
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration within Enterprise Engineering
- Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement
