Job Summary
Backend Engineer focusing on customer identity verification, designing and delivering microservices in Java/Spring Boot on AWS, collaborating with tech leads, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to secure, well-tested code and scalable architecture. Role involves shaping features with a Tech Lead, staying current with technology trends, and working within a cross-functional team to maintain high technical standards. Located in Barcelona with relocation/visa support offered; opportunity to work with a diverse, autonomous team at N26.
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (Kotlin is a plus)
- Strong understanding of microservice architecture
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Experience working with modern cloud architectures, preferably AWS
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Strong bias for action and delivering results
- Ongoing appreciation for security in software design
- Motivation to write well-tested and well-documented code
- Ability to give and receive open, direct, and timely feedback
- Mentorship and willingness to guide junior team members
- Familiarity with architecting and delivering features from design to completion
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to uphold high technical standards
