B-Pressure Welder Journeyperson on Suncor Firebag Maintenance. Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. They develop patterns for projects or follow layouts/blueprints/work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, and may use a cutting torch. Responsibilities include fusing metals with prescribed welding applications, understanding welding equipment for various procedures, reading drawings and developing layout patterns, calculating material quantities, recognizing defective welds and performing repairs, applying relevant welding codes, coordinating with other trades, ensuring adherence to quality and production standards, and maintaining valid CWB and B-pressure tickets as required. Safety certifications include CSO, BSO & OSSA Orientation (or equivalent), ESC Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Elevated Work Platform, H2S Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Basic/Intermediate, and appropriate RPE training; also requires current welding tickets (SMAW, TIG, GTAW, Inconel) and BPressure ticket where applicable. The role is based in Alberta with a 14/14 day shift, camp accommodations, and travel to site by air; full-time permanent position with 12-hour days on a fly-to-site schedule.
