Job Summary
B’naiture Mentor needed for a part-time, two-year Youth Mentoring program in Berkeley, CA (Wilderness Torah/Adamah SF). Responsibilities include mentoring 11-13 year-olds through nature-based games, crafts, stories, and Jewish-learning activities; ensuring youth safety and health; communicating with families; coordinating with a co-mentor for family calls; and participating in regular planning meetings and camping trips (Sundays, Wednesdays, and weekends). Requires 3+ years experience in youth mentoring, nature connection, wilderness skills, or Jewish learning; ability to lift 25 pounds; comfort with outdoor conditions; and CPR/First Aid certification (WT will reimburse). Salary $25-$30/hour, paid sick leave, program discounts, and training opportunities. Start August 2026 with rolling applications; local candidates or willingness to relocate. Include dedication to collaborative curriculum development, community building, and continuity through the two-year program.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience providing either wilderness, nature-based, Jewish, and/or rites-of-passage programming
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
- Must be able to be outside in various weather conditions
- Comfort with building and tending fire, basic whittling skills; music skills a plus
- Attend staff training weekend August 21-23, and additional trainings throughout year
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years experience providing wilderness, nature-based, Jewish, and/or rites-of-passage programming
- Experience teaching wilderness skills
- Knowledge of the Jewish calendar and holiday cycles
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of youth mentors
- Commitment to completing the 2 year program
