[B] Health Care Aide, Union, Casual, Arbutus Care Centre

Health Care Aide at Arbutus Care Centre works as part of the care team to deliver resident-focused basic care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with tub bathing, washing, dressing, and transferring residents; observing changes in residents’ condition and reporting to the Staff Nurse; contributing to the Nursing Care Plan by sharing information about residents’ needs and strengths; supporting residents in moving about the community and participating in functions; and ensuring safety by reporting unsafe activities. Required qualifications include completion of a Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent with 500 hours of theory and practicum), experience with seniors in community health settings, strong written and spoken communication, organizational and time-management skills, interpersonal and customer-focused abilities, and the ability to perform personal care tasks. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid is recommended, and a current Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Background Check within six months or willingness to obtain one.
