Job Summary
Health Care Aide (HCA) provides resident-focused basic care under supervision of an LPN, observes changes in resident status during activities like tub bathing and dressing, participates in Nursing Care Plan development, assists with mobility and community activities, and reports safety concerns to the care team; requires HCA program completion with 500 hours theory/practicum, experience with seniors, strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and Vulnerable Sector Check eligibility; CPR/First Aid recommended.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum)
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
- Ability to perform tasks necessary for the position (lifting/transferring clients)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
