Job Summary
Health Care Aide provides resident-focused basic care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, performing a wide range of safe, thorough care and services. You will observe residents for changes, report to the Staff Nurse, contribute to the Nursing Care Plan, assist with mobility, and collaborate with the care team to address individual needs. Requires completion of a Health Care Aide program (or provincial certificate with 500 hours theory/practicum) and experience with seniors; strong communication and organizational skills; willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check; Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum)
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
- Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
