Azure Platform Engineer (Contract)

Job Summary
Design, implement, and configure greenfield enterprise-grade Azure landing zones aligned with Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and best practices. Lead discovery, technical design, and iterative development of the Azure platform using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep). Execute end-to-end integration of new landing zones with existing on-premise legacy estates and hybrid networking environments. Support the rollout of Microsoft Fabric and associated Azure data services including Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, and Synapse. Collaborate with Solution Directors and Lead Architects to refine the platform roadmap while conducting peer reviews and mentoring mid-level engineers. This hands-on role builds and evolves an enterprise-scale Azure platform from the ground up within a high-profile AI & Data programme. Occasional travel to Stoke is required for face-to-face workshops.
Required Qualifications
- Deep expertise as an Azure Platform Expert
- extensive hands-on experience engineering enterprise-scale solutions
- Proven track record of setting up greenfield enterprise-grade Azure Landing Zones
- Strong experience integrating Azure with on-premise legacy estates and infrastructure
- Hands-on experience integrating and supporting Microsoft Fabric and its connected Azure data ecosystem
- Demonstrated ability to discover technical requirements and develop cloud platforms iteratively within modern agile environments
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep)
- Proficiency in modern CI/CD deployment pipelines
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and communication skills across both technical teams and senior leadership
