Job Summary
ETL Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain ETL data engineering processes using Python (PySpark) within Azure Synapse Analytics Notebooks and/or Azure Synapse Analytics Pipelines, ensuring accurate and available analytical data. Responsible for data warehousing design leveraging star schemas, extracting from REST APIs, SQL tables, and CSV files, and building scalable data models. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality data for insights, while implementing data quality checks, performance tuning, and monitoring. Maintain documentation, ensure security and governance, and support data-related initiatives across cross-functional teams. Proficiency with Azure Synapse Analytics, SparkSQL, MS SQL, and version control (Git/Azure DevOps) is required; experience with Power BI/Tableau and Agile practices is a plus and strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proven ETL data engineering experience with Python (PySpark) for data extraction, transformation, and loading from REST APIs, SQL database tables, and CSV files
- Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics resources including Notebooks and Pipelines
- Ability to write complex SQL queries and work with SparkSQL and MS SQL
- Knowledge of data integration best practices and tools
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git (Azure DevOps)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team with shifting priorities
- Familiarity with big data technologies, machine learning, and data analysis is a plus
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Agile methodologies is a plus
