Job Summary
Azure Data Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL data pipelines using Python (PySpark) in Azure Synapse Analytics to ensure reliable data for analytics. Collaborates with data scientists and analysts, builds scalable data warehouses with star schemas in an MPP SQL pool, extracts data from REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files, ensures data quality, performs performance tuning on ETL notebooks/pipelines, and maintains comprehensive documentation. Focuses on data security, governance, and collaboration across cross-functional teams in a remote Latin America setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in ETL data engineering with Python (PySpark) for data extraction, transformation, and loading from REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files
- Proficiency with Azure Synapse Analytics resources including Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, and Azure Key Vault
- Strong SQL skills with SparkSQL and MS SQL
- Knowledge of data integration best practices and tools
- Experience with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with big data technologies, machine learning, and data analysis preferred
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Agile methodologies a plus
Desired Qualifications
- Azure Data Engineer certification (preferred)
- Strong Python (PySpark) experience
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics Notebooks and Pipelines
- Experience extracting data from REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, star schemas, and MPP SQL pools
- Data modeling and data quality practices
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau and Agile methodologies
