Job Summary
Azure Data Engineer focused on ETL data pipelines using Python (PySpark) and Azure Synapse Analytics. Responsible for designing and maintaining ETL processes, data warehousing structures, and data models; extracting data from REST APIs, SQL tables, and CSV files; optimizing queries and pipelines for performance; implementing data quality checks; and collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver accurate, scalable data for insights. Mixes consultancy exposure with a strong emphasis on data integration, governance, and security. Remote opportunity for LATAM with ongoing collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proven ETL data engineering experience with Python (PySpark)
- Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics (Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, Azure Key Vault)
- Strong SQL (SparkSQL and MS SQL) skills
- Experience with REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files
- Experience with version control (Git, Azure DevOps)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Certifications related to data engineering or data science (e.g., Azure Data Engineer) are a plus
- Proven ETL experience using Python (PySpark) to extract/transform/load from REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files
- Proficiency with Azure Synapse Analytics resources (Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, Azure Key Vault)
- Strong SQL skills (SparkSQL and MS SQL) and experience with data integration best practices
- Experience with Git (Azure DevOps) and Agile methodologies is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team
- Familiarity with big data technologies, data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) a plus
