Job Summary
Azure Data Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL data pipelines in Azure Synapse Analytics using Python (PySpark) to support client data warehousing and analytics. Responsibilities include building data pipelines/notebooks, extracting data from REST APIs, SQL tables, and CSVs; designing star schemas and scalable data models; implementing data quality checks; performance tuning of ETL jobs to meet SLAs; monitoring pipelines and troubleshooting issues; maintaining documentation; collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders; ensuring data security and governance compliance. Requires strong SQL (SparkSQL/MS SQL), PySpark, Azure Synapse Analytics skills, and experience with data integration best practices; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau and Agile methodologies is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in ETL data engineering with Python (PySpark)
- Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics resources (Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, Azure Key Vault)
- Ability to write complex SQL queries (SparkSQL and MS SQL)
- Knowledge of data integration best practices and tools
- Experience with Git or Azure DevOps
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Agile methodologies a plus
