Job Summary
Azure Data Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL data pipelines in PySpark within Azure Synapse Analytics, ensuring accurate and available analytical data. Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver high-quality data, implement data quality checks, optimize performance, and document data flows. Responsibilities include extracting data from REST APIs, SQL tables, and CSV files; applying data warehousing concepts; building scalable notebooks/pipelines; contributing to data lakes/lakehouses and data cataloging; modeling data schemas; ensuring data security and governance; and supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, growth-focused consultancy environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- certifications related to data engineering or data science (e.g. Azure Data Engineer) being a plus
- Proven experience in ETL data engineering with Python (PySpark) to perform data extraction, transformation, and loading from REST APIs, SQL database tables, and CSV files
- Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics resources including Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, and Azure Key Vault
- Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL queries, optimize query performance, and work with SparkSQL and MS SQL
- Knowledge of data integration best practices and tools
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git (Azure DevOps)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Familiarity with big data technologies, machine learning, and data analysis preferred
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Agile Methodologies a plus
