Job Summary
Azure Data Engineer (Remote, Latin America) responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL data pipelines using Python (PySpark) within Azure Synapse Analytics to ensure accurate, high-quality data delivery for analytics. Collaborates with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to model data, implement data quality checks, optimize ETL performance, and document data flows. Proficient in data warehousing concepts (star schemas, facts, dimensions), building scalable notebooks/pipelines, and integrating data from REST APIs, SQL databases, and CSV files. Requires strong SQL expertise (SparkSQL/MS SQL), experience with Azure Synapse resources (Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, Azure Key Vault), and familiarity with data fabrics, data lakes/lakehouses, Delta Lake, and data cataloging. Will work in a fast-paced consultancy environment, emphasizing collaboration, security/compliance, and continuous learning. Remote position within Latin America with a Piura, Peru-based hint for local context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in ETL data engineering with Python (PySpark)
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics resources including Notebooks, Pipelines, Linked Services, and Azure Key Vault
- Strong SQL skills (SparkSQL and MS SQL) and ability to optimize queries
- Experience with data integration best practices and tools
- Version control experience (e.g., Git)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with big data technologies, data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Agile methodologies a plus
