Job Summary
Azure Cloud Systems Engineer to design, deliver, and support Azure cloud environments. Responsible for designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions aligned to project requirements, security, and operational standards; delivering new cloud deployments (greenfield) including network, identity, compute, storage, and platform services; planning and executing migrations from on-premises to Azure (rehost/refactor/replatform); supporting workloads in Azure with monitoring, alerting, incident response, and problem management; building reliable, scalable, and cost-aware cloud environments; implementing Microsoft Entra ID capabilities (RBAC, Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access); configuring Microsoft Defender for Cloud for posture management, policy recommendations, and compliance reporting; developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep/ARM; implementing automated deployment pipelines (GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions); ensuring backup, DR, patching, and configuration management; troubleshooting across cloud components; producing documentation and handover materials for operational teams; required knowledge includes extensive Azure service expertise, security and identity governance practices, and strong troubleshooting skills. The role also notes pre-employment checks and security clearances as applicable in Australia, with emphasis on compliance and collaboration across delivery teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Azure cloud computing
- Solid knowledge across common Azure services (e.g., VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, VMs, Storage, Key Vault, Monitor/Log Analytics)
- Azure Landing Zones / CAF patterns, governance (Policy), and management groups/subscriptions design
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, including secure access controls and identity governance practices
- Strong troubleshooting capability across networking, identity, compute, and platform services
- Proficiency in server operating systems (Windows Server or Linux)
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to prioritise competing demand
- Collaborate effectively with IT personnel to optimise system performance and implement new technologies

- Defence security clearance or ability to obtain (if role requires)
