Job Summary
Azerbaijani Reviewer/Editor/Certifier needed to support the Department of Justice Linguistic Support Services. Responsibilities include translation of documents and media (written/electronic, audio/video), transcription, and interpretation (court/deposition) across diverse domains (legal, medical, financial, technical). Materials are sensitive and require strict confidentiality. The role requires ILR 4 or equivalent, 5+ years of language experience, U.S. residency history, U.S. citizenship, CAT tools proficiency (SDL Trados Studio), and a Public Trust or higher clearance. Remote work is available alongside National Capital Region and CONUS locations; some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English and editing skills
- Qualifying ILR 4 minimum or equivalent language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S. (not necessarily consecutive)
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Know English and foreign language vocabularies used in formal, diplomatic, and casual contexts including slang and regionalisms
- Know specialized vocabulary in both English and the foreign language related to the Government’s varied roles and missions; ability to use translation resources and reference materials
- Write in native language fluently with professional command of the non-native language
- Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions; preserve tone and register
- Abide by relevant linguist ethics
- Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, with emphasis on SDL Trados Studio
- Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capital Region / Various CONUS Locations; Travel may be required
