Job Summary
Conduct building walk-throughs, room inspections, and inventory audits to identify and report maintenance, facilities, and health and safety concerns. Coordinate room health checks, fire drills, and drug sweeps while escorting vendors and managing contracted security staff through monthly meetings and quality inspections. Manage office supplies, inventory audits, and communication distribution via phone, email, and mail, ensuring proper routing of all incoming materials. Support programming initiatives, facilitate conflict resolution for policy breaches, and role model appropriate behavior to residents through formal and informal engagement. Assist residents in need by triaging student concerns to appropriate campus resources and documenting incidents.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum cumulative/semester GPA of 2.5
- Good academic standing
- No open sanctions
- Successful completion of a criminal background check after hire
- Background or coursework in public health, safety, risk management, or a related field
- Prior experience navigating crisis situations (e.g., lifeguard, first responder, or Resident Assistant)
- Strong conflict resolution skills to handle tense situations and enforce university policy fairly
- Demonstrated capability to train and educate peer staff on emergency response protocols
- Advanced communication skills to articulate critical safety mandates clearly during high-stress moments
- High attention to detail for conducting thorough health inspections and identifying safety hazards
- Ability to collaborate effectively with campus security, facilities, and local emergency services
- Physical and Environmental Factors: This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs., repetitive motions, and driving to perform the essential functions.
