Job Summary
AWS Lead Software Engineer-Java at JPMorgan Chase on the Card Technology team delivers secure, scalable software by leading and contributing across the SDLC. Responsibilities include creating secure production code, developing and reviewing REST APIs (SpringBoot, Swagger), working with SQL/NoSQL, enabling automation and CI/CD, and guiding architectural decisions. The role leads engineering communities, evaluates external vendors/teams, and drives operational stability while fostering a diverse, inclusive team culture. Required capabilities include strong Java expertise, cloud experience (AWS), and a track record across design, development, testing, and deployment within distributed systems, with emphasis on agile practices and security.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Proven expertise in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability
- Advanced in Java
- Experience developing and supporting REST API interfaces (SpringBoot, Swagger), as well as working with SQL and NoSQL technologies
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Experience architecture, analysis, design, coding, and code review and application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
- Proficiency with a variety of software engineering toolsets and experience with tracking record of success working on highly distributed systems.
- Familiarity with software best practices such as refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design, and encapsulation.
