Job Summary
Platform Operations Engineer – AWS & Kafka (Amazon MSK) focused on administering and optimizing a Kafka-based data streaming infrastructure on AWS. Responsible for reliability, scalability, and performance across MSK clusters and related cloud services; work with engineering and DevOps to maintain a secure, high-throughput event streaming environment underpinning key applications and analytics. Must-haves include 10+ years managing Kafka and AWS, Terraform IaC, Kafka security/governance, and strong scripting/automation skills; nice-to-haves include Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka Connect/Schema Registry/Streams, monitoring frameworks, cross-region/multi-account AWS setups, and AWS certifications. Preferred background in capital markets and high-availability/low-latency systems.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands-on experience managing and administering Apache Kafka and/or Amazon MSK
- 10+ years of professional experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, S3, VPC)
- Proven Kafka cluster setup, scaling, partitioning, replication, monitoring
- Infrastructure-as-code tools experience (Terraform)
- Kafka security and data governance in cloud environments
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automation scripting (Python, Bash)
- Troubleshooting distributed systems, caching architectures, and optimizing throughput/latency
- Collaborative experience across Cloud, DevOps, Security, and Data engineering teams
