Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems by coordinating with network engineers and monitoring resources such as CPU usage, disk usage, and response times. Perform systems security administration functions including creating user profiles and accounts, while developing and monitoring policies for computing resource allocation. Install system-wide software, allocate mass storage space, and provide backup recovery solutions. Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases, coordinate installations, and interact with users to evaluate vendor products. Maintain system documentation and may supervise less experienced staff.
