Job Summary
AWS Cloud DBA responsible for designing, deploying, and managing highly available, secure, and scalable database solutions in the AWS cloud. Focus on optimizing database performance, data security, and automation for database operations. Collaborate with developers, architects, and DevOps to deliver reliable data solutions. Design, implement, and manage AWS-managed databases (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, etc.), migrate on-premises databases using DMS, implement caching (ElastiCache/Redis), apply encryption and IAM/KMS controls, and integrate database ops into CI/CD pipelines. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FedRAMP, SOC 2 as applicable. Monitor performance, perform query tuning, manage backups, disaster recovery, and cost optimization; automate provisioning and monitoring with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK); support data operations and handoffs across environments; work with CloudWatch and Performance Insights for observability.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship or Green Card
- Ability to Obtain and Maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field (or 4 years in lieu)
- Minimum FIVE (5) years of experience as a DBA, with FIVE (5) years in AWS cloud environments
- Expertise in AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache)
- Strong SQL skills; experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with database migration and replication tools (AWS DMS, SCT, native replication)
- Hands-on scripting (Python, Bash)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Knowledge of networking, security, and IAM as applied to databases
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with teams
- Ability to ensure data systems uptime and disaster recovery capabilities
- Proactive in monitoring, optimization, and incident response
