Job Summary
Implement hourly room checks and investigate unusual nighttime activity, contacting on-call or supervisory staff for emergencies. Manage crises therapeutically and support children and youth with strategies to enhance their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Complete daily household tasks including cooking and cleaning, and transport youth to school, appointments, or visits. This full-time role in Medicine Hat, AB, involves a 12-hour shift schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must hold a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License and a reliable personal vehicle.
Required Qualifications
- First Aid Certificate Level C from an Alberta OHS Approved Agency
- A reliable personal vehicle
- Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
- Clean 3 Year Driver's Abstract
- Proof of $2M Liability Auto Insurance Coverage
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (completed within the last 6 months)
- Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Minimum of 6 months of previous experience working with vulnerable children and/or families
- Willingness to work an unstructured work week, consisting of 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to manage a crisis situation in a therapeutic manner
- Ability to intervene physically in a manner that reduces the risk of harm
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time

- A diploma or degree in a related field
- Experience working in Community Group Care or other 'in-care' programs
