Job Summary
Own and actively grow a profitable book of inland marine and property business across the Midwest Region by building strong agency relationships to drive consistent new business flow. Evaluate risks, pricing, and coverage structures using judgment to analyze submissions, loss history, and exposure changes, setting prices that reflect risk and company strategy. Structure deals creatively using coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance to meet client and company goals, while interpreting policies to guide brokers and internal partners. Meet in person with distribution partners a minimum of 5 times per month to sharpen market reads and ensure partners understand strategic focus. This role requires a hybrid schedule with office presence Monday through Wednesday and remote options Thursday and Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
- 9+ years of inland marine and/or property underwriting experience
- Experience leading, mentoring, and providing guidance managing underwriters
- Strong understanding of the insurance marketplace, including inland marine and property products, pricing, and competitive dynamics
- Proven ability to develop broker relationships that support both new and renewal business opportunities
- Confidence in risk selection, pricing, and structuring deals, including the use of deductibles, coverage features, or reinsurance where appropriate
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes
- Meet in person with distribution partners a minimum of 5 times per month
