Job Summary

Lead Nationwide’s Employment Consulting & Litigation team; oversee employment law strategy and support across the enterprise for a Fortune 100 insurance and financial services company. Directly leads, oversees, and coordinates the provision of employment law services to HR and business partners, manages high-impact employment litigation and agency matters, guides investigations and pre-litigation disputes, and designs scalable, data-informed processes and policies. Partners with senior HR leaders and Legal partners on workforce initiatives, reorganizations, new work models, acquisitions/divestitures, pay transparency and equity, and responsible use of AI in HR decisions. Develops and nurtures attorneys and legal professionals, sets expectations, coaches performance, and fosters collaboration and continuous improvement; builds trusted relationships and communicates risk and trade-offs to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active licensure in good standing in the states where practicing
  • Typically 15 years of employment law experience; mix of law firm and in-house preferred
  • Experience counseling on complex employment matters including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour, accommodations, leaves, discipline and termination
  • Experience leading or supervising attorneys or legal professionals; collaboration with HR and business leaders in a large organization
  • Knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations; ability to translate into practical guidance
  • Strong business acumen and judgment; ability to communicate risks and options to senior leaders
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across an organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; handling sensitive matters with discretion
  • Experience with international employment law is a plus
