Job Summary
AVP Assistant Controller role overseeing technical accounting, financial reporting, close management, and regulatory reporting for a financial-institution environment. Responsibilities include CECL process execution under ASC 326, accounting research and memoranda, evaluation of accounting treatments for new products, monthly/quarterly close, financial reporting deliverables, call report and regulatory reporting, external audit coordination, budgeting/forecasting support, ALM and investment reporting, and process improvements. Requires strong technical accounting knowledge, audit readiness, and experience with GAAP, internal controls, and policy documentation; CPA preferred; 7+ years in banking/credit union accounting; advanced Excel and GL systems proficiency; capable of cross-functional collaboration across Finance and Operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of direct experience within a bank or credit union in accounting/controllership/financial reporting
- CPA preferred, active or in good standing
- Strong technical accounting foundation with GAAP knowledge
- Experience with CECL reserve methodologies and call report preparation
- Excellent written communication and Excel proficiency
