Job Summary
Avionics Wiring Technician III installs, troubleshoots, and repairs complex avionics systems on a range of aircraft airframes, documenting work per FAA-approved procedures and company standards. The role includes leading minor aircraft projects in the Crew Chief’s absence, mentoring junior technicians through on-the-job training, and ensuring high-quality workmanship. Requires proficiency with technical data and wiring diagrams, familiarity with FARs, and ability to operate within safety and environmental regulations. Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma/equivalency and five years of avionics installation experience; a valid Airframe & Powerplant certificate and/or FCC license are preferred. The position involves working across shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs, and potential overtime; candidate must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently and maintain a safe, clean work environment. Knowledge of tooling, documentation practices, and ability to mentor teammates are essential, as is the capacity to manage team dynamics and communicate effectively.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency degree required
- Five years avionics installation experience required
- Licenses: Airframe & Powerplant Certificate and/or FCC License preferred
- Thorough knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145
- AOA badge or Airport requirements (ability to attain & retain)
- Must possess minimum tooling required to perform duties assigned
- Must be able to work various shifts, as assigned by management
- Manlift qualified
- Reads, writes, speaks and understands English fluently
- Visual acuity correctable to 20/20
- Works in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, heights above six feet, noisy environments and flying
- Ability to work overtime hours may be required as an essential function of this role based on business conditions and customer needs
