Job Summary
Avionics Technician onsite role diagnosing faults and repairing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs), Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and Test Program Sets (TPS); diagnose faults in test stations and TPS; restore electronic units, test stations, cables, and wiring harnesses per Work Control Documents; assist validation/verification to identify faults in new TPS; review schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals; access OEM baselines and JEDMICS for drawings, parts lists, and specs; collaborate with OEM contacts for accurate technical data; operate TMDE including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and voltmeters; perform self-devised fault/analysis routines beyond automated diagnostics; train government personnel in analysis techniques; conduct in-depth analysis of test software and recommend corrective actions; assist in prototype/first article testing to ensure fully functional TPS; resolve issues on specified weapons systems; set up and operate equipment for fabrication of PCBs and higher-level assemblies; certify asset condition prior to shipment; repair/modify/troubleshoot/calibrate/align/operate automatic test stations.
Required Qualifications
- Technical school degree/certificate (electronic/electrical preferred)
- Eight (8) years’ experience with the testing and repair of electronic LRUs and SRUs
- four (4) years’ experience in the testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of faults in Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and Test Program Sets (TPS)
- Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment
- Must obtain a valid government driver’s license when required by job assignment
- Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) to include hazardous material endorsement when required by job assignment
- Must obtain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government
- Must be physically able to perform duties
- Must be able to work with required materials without debilitating irritation to skin, eyes or respiratory system while wearing PPE
