Job Summary
Install, troubleshoot, inspect, test, adjust, repair, and modify avionics systems, sub-systems, and equipment on aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations. Interpret installation drawings, schematics, and handbooks to complete work with minimal supervision. Diagnose malfunctions in avionics and electrical components, then test equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to verify performance and airworthiness. Analyze test results to identify necessary repairs or replacements, ensuring only calibrated tooling is used. Accompany flight crews for in-flight adjustments and record post-flight repair work. Complete all required reports, forms, and checklists while complying with safety and OSHA requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2+ years of avionics or aircraft electrical maintenance experience (Part 91, Part 135, Part 145, or military)
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and AMMs
- Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Experience with standard avionics test equipment (e.g., IFR, Nav/Comm testers, pitot-static equipment)
- Understanding of FAA regulations related to maintenance documentation and airworthiness
- Ability to work overtime, multiple shifts, and travel as needed
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, installation drawings or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook, internet software, e-mail, database software, inventory software, order processing software
Desired Qualifications
- Technical school certificate, military avionics training, or equivalent experience
