Job Summary
Avionics Production Engineer needed to develop, implement, and optimize production processes for avionics, electrical, and software-loaded hardware across multiple spacecraft vehicle types. Responsibilities include setting up and scaling spacecraft avionics manufacturing capabilities for developmental and rate production; creating work instructions for assembly, integration, and test of avionics subsystems (flight computers, power systems, RF/communications hardware, harnesses, ground support equipment); on-floor production support to address bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues; generating and resolving non-compliance reports, conducting root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions; overseeing calibration and certification of electrical ground support equipment; driving process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability; collaborating with design engineering for manufacturability feedback and contributing to technical documentation (schematics, assembly drawings, process flows, test procedures). Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor’s in a related engineering field, hands-on hardware experience, and familiarity with AS9100 and classified hardware in SCIF/SAP facilities. The role offers compensation across multiple levels (Production Engineer 1–3, Senior Production Engineer) with base salary ranges up to $200k, equity/benefits, and a hybrid on-site work arrangement near Long Beach, CA; U.S. citizenship or approved status required for ITAR compliance. Your actual level/base salary will be determined case-by-case based on knowledge, education, location, and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, electrical, computer engineering or related field
- Years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems
- Experience with PLM, MES, configuration and data management controls and systems
- Experience working to AS9100 process and standards
- Experience with working hands-on-hardware and fabrication methods
- Experience building and producing classified hardware in SCIF’s or SAP facilities
